A man lost his life in a motor vehicle accident recently. The crash involved two vehicles and took place in Denver on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 3. Authorities are still investigating the crash.
According to reports, Denver police responded to an accident near the intersection of Dixie Place and North Pecos Street around 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3. There they found two vehicles involved in a crash. One vehicle was a truck and the other was a Honda CR-V.
Although the report offers little details regarding the accident, it did state that the man driving the truck was taken to local hospital, where he was pronounced dead because of his injuries. The woman driving the CR-V reportedly only suffered minor injuries. The report also states the truck driver who was killed was not wearing his seatbelt.
The report did not mention who authorities thought may have caused the accident. They are continuing to investigate. Should the woman’s negligence have led to the crash, the surviving family members of the deceased can pursue a wrongful death claim against her and anyone else with ownership of her car. If the evidence suggests the man is responsible for the accident through negligence or wrongdoing, the injured woman who was driving the SUV may pursue a personal injury claim against his estate to seek recovery of damages she sustained as a result of the accident. Either way, plaintiffs must prove negligence on the part of the other driver before a court will adjudicate the claim and award damages.
