Crash in Denver Claims Life of Pedestrian

Interstate highways in Colorado and elsewhere are not designed for pedestrians. Still, any number of reasons can cause someone to have to walk along the road, perhaps to get help for a stalled vehicle or simply because the person has to traverse the highway to reach his or her destination on foot. Whatever the reason, one person was apparently walking on I-25 in Denver recently when he or she was struck and killed by vehicle

Accident details

According to reports, the crash occurred early in the morning of Saturday, March 12. A person was reportedly attempting to cross the interstate on foot, although no word was given as to why the individual was walking on the highway in the first place. Nevertheless, the individual was struck by a vehicle and declared dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity. They also have not confirmed whether the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene or fled. The report also did not specify what type of vehicle officials believe struck the pedestrian or whether drugs or alcohol were involved. Both lanes of the interstate were closed for several hours that morning as authorities investigated the scene.

Legal recourse for surviving family

Although the report did not identify the victim killed in this pedestrian-car accident, most likely, authorities have already notified next-of-kin. As they try to deal with their tragic loss, surviving family members may consider pursuing a wrongful death claim against the driver in an attempt at recovering damages. Since there are so many unknowns with this case, affected parties will want to consult with an experienced personal injury attorney in Colorado for assistance.
