Accident in Colorado Springs Injured Several Teens, Toddler

Despite following the rules of the road, people can still become involved in accidents due to the negligence of others. Sometimes, drivers may run stop signs or traffic lights, leading to an accident that can cause considerable hardships for those involved. No one knows exactly what caused a two-car accident in Colorado Springs recently, but the crash seriously injured several teenagers and harmed a young child.

Detail regarding accident

Sometime during the afternoon of Feb. 12, a vehicle carrying several teenagers was struck by a pickup truck carrying the driver and a toddler. The accident occurred at the intersection of Peterson Road and Highland Vista Drive. The report did not offer specifics as to the cause other than to state that the pickup was trying to negotiate a left-hand turn when it struck the car.

The collision caused the car to be thrown into someone’s backyard. One teen was thrown from the vehicle, and the others had to be extricated using mechanical devices. No word was given as to the severity of the teenagers’ injuries, but the report stated the pickup driver and toddler only suffered minor injuries.

Determining cause and pursuing compensation

The accident is still under investigation as officials try to determine the cause. Should the evidence suggest the pickup truck driver was negligent behind the wheel, the families of the injured teenagers can use that information in a civil claim against the driver, in an attempt to recover damages. If the teen driver of the car is found to have been at fault, the pickup driver may elect to pursue a personal injury claim for himself and/or his toddler. Either way, affected parties will want to work with an experienced personal injury attorney to fully understand their rights and options and increase their chances for a successful outcome.
