Many people in Colorado enjoy getting out this time of year to take in the state’s majestic views. As they travel along state roadways, they have to be vigilant about the traffic around them or risk causing or becoming involved in an accident. Unfortunately, a three-vehicle crash severely injured several people near Winter Park.

Accident details and injuries

Around 4:30 p.m. on July 29, a white Ford pickup was heading east on U.S. Hey 40, and witnesses say it was speeding. At the same time, a Jeep was stopped on the road waiting to turn left onto a forestry road. The pickup collided with the Jeep and kept on traveling until it hit a Lexus sedan.

The driver of the pickup along with the driver of the Lexus and two passengers in the sedan suffered severe injuries, and they were transported to a hospital in Denver for treatment. The Jeep contained four occupants, but none were hurt in the crash. The crash also caused another Jeep SUV that was pulling a trailer to leave the road, and one person in that vehicle suffered minor injuries. The accident is still ongoing, but authorities do not suspect alcohol or drug impairment.

Seeking compensation

The severely injured parties in the Lexus may pursue personal injury claims against the Ford pickup driver to obtain compensation for their injuries. Police stated they plan to charge the Ford driver, but injured parties may pursue compensation without any criminal charges being filed. In order to gain a full understanding of their rights and options, those injured in this wreck should consult with an experienced personal injury attorney in Colorado for assistance.
