A motor vehicle can break down at any moment and those who experience similar issues may face a need to pull onto the shoulder of the road and wait for assistance. Even if the cause of a breakdown stems from a flat tire, standing outside of a vehicle to change a tire can be dangerous at times and if a nearby driver suddenly veers off the road, the results could prove cataclysmic. Two individuals were killed during a recent car accident in Colorado after they were hit by an impaired driver who lost control and veered onto the shoulder.

Crash reports

According to reports, the crash took place on a recent Wednesday night after a driver pulled onto the shoulder of the road after encountering a vehicular breakdown. Two of the occupants were reportedly standing outside the vehicle talking to a state trooper who had stopped to provide aid. Reports indicate that another vehicle suddenly veered onto the shoulder and hit the two individuals before crashing into a nearby guardrail.

Authorities have advised that both individuals died at the scene of the crash. They also assert that an investigation into the incident indicated that the driver of the other vehicle exhibited signs of impairment. This person has been arrested and is facing multiple charges following the crash, including driving under the influence and vehicular homicide.

Sudden loss

Dealing with the sudden loss of someone close in a car accident involving an impaired driver can be a challenging thing to accept. Following such a loss, a person in Colorado might choose to speak with an attorney for guidance on his or her available legal options and the best course of action to take. While nothing can change what occurred, a successful legal claim may help provide much-needed restitution during a challenging time in life.
