There may be few things in life as harrowing as losing a child, especially when the loss stems from the negligence of another party. Parents who experience such loss may be left in search of answers about what took place and the next steps to take to seek restitution accordingly. Two teenagers were killed and another suffered serious injuries during a recent head-on car accident involving an impaired driver in Colorado.

Head-on collision

Law enforcement agents say they responded to reports of a head-on crash on a recent Friday night. Reports indicate that the driver of a car suddenly drifted into the opposite lanes of traffic. This placed the car directly in the path of an oncoming vehicle and authorities say the two vehicles proceeded to collide head-on soon thereafter.

Reports state that there were four teenagers in the second vehicle at the time of the incident, two of whom were pronounced dead at the scene. A third occupant in this vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Authorities indicate that impairment is suspected in the crash, and they say that the driver of the car is facing numerous charges following the incident.

The next steps

Parents who suffer the loss of a child in a car accident involving an impaired driver may experience an understandable desire for justice, but they might be uncertain of the next steps to take. Fortunately, there are attorneys in Colorado who can examine the incident and assist a person in preparing to navigate every stage of the civil justice system. While there may be nothing that can change what took place, a successful legal claim could help provide much-needed restitution during a difficult stage in life.
